Ararat High School. One of the most tenured and well-respected athletic trainers in the state, Kate works extremely hard to make sure the Eagles remain healthy so that they can compete at the highest levels. Kate has had a varied background starting with teaching health education, then teaching students with physical and emotional severe special needs and continuing on with blending her educational background into her current private therapeutic massage therapy practice. Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Board of Certification (NATABOC) since 1983, these experiences, along with her many experiences working at national and international sporting events, have given her a unique knowledge of the systems of the human body and how that applies to injuries. Kate has served as the Massage Coordinator for the annual TD Beach to Beacon 10K and also provides massage therapy for other local and regional road races, including the Boston Marathon. Additionally, Kate was a member of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games Sports Massage Team. She applies that knowledge here at Mt Ararat, where she oversees student athletics through the prevention, care, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. She continues to gain knowledge by taking continuing education in anatomy, Kinesio Taping™, Rock Tape™, orthopedic assessment of injuries and other relevant sports medicine topics. |
